Navy Yard DC
A neighborhood directory, connected by one content system.
Webflow development for Washington, D.C.'s Navy Yard BID, combining a business directory, an interactive Mapbox map, and a migration from the former Capitol Riverfront site.

Brief
Navy Yard DC needed to help visitors find local businesses and explore the neighborhood. The site had to organize a large directory, surface businesses by category, and connect that content to an interactive map.
Planthouse supplied the design. We built the site in Webflow, including the CMS architecture, map filtering, and migration.

Solution
Organize content once
The directory spans more than 250 businesses and places, from restaurants and shops to parks, venues, and sports teams, organized across 30+ CMS collections. A shared tag system across categories including Shop & Dine, Sports & Entertainment, Parks & Plazas, and Health & Wellness lets a business appear in several relevant contexts without duplicate entries, so the BID team maintains each listing in one place.
Connect the directory to the map
A custom filtering layer linked Mapbox to the CMS tags. Selecting a category updated the map pins, letting visitors explore the same directory geographically, with the map and the listing pages always drawing from the same content. GSAP entrance sequences and scroll reveals added motion to key layouts.
Consolidate the migration
The move from Capitol Riverfront involved nearly 2,000 existing URLs, covering years of pages, events, and business listings. Rather than mapping each address individually, the URLs were consolidated into 133 redirect rules using Webflow's wildcard system, preserving the old site's routes with a set of rules small enough to maintain by hand.

Result
The BID team gained a directory of 250+ businesses and places, an events calendar, and a map, all powered by the same content structure. New entries appear in the relevant categories and map views through a CMS update, with no developer involved, while the redirect setup carries visitors and search rankings from the previous site's URLs to the new one.
